What are you looking forward to this year?

I’ve been jotting down the various films I come across on IMDB or whatever in a notepad file, and honestly there’s not that many I’m really looking forward to. Hopefully a good number of amazing films come out that I didn’t anticipate, but anyway here’s the rundown so far-
Zack and Miri make a Porno (2008)

New Kevin Smith movie, with Seth Rogen in the lead, he said on his blog this was the funniest movie he’s ever made.

Synecdoche, New York (2008)

Written AND Directed by Charlie Fucking Kaufman- hopefully nothing short of amazing. (Kaufman wrote Being John Malkovich, Adaptation, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. He’s my favorite screenwriter, this is his first time directing)

Burn After Reading (September 26, 2008)

New Coens flick with George Clooney. Coens = my 8 dollars.

Wall-E (June 27, 2008)

New Pixar. Pixar = my 8 dollars.

Open Hearts (2008)

Another Written/Directed/Acted/etc. by Zach Braff.

Forbidden Kingdom (April 18, 2008) (Out, haven’t seen yet)

Trailer looks cool as fuck, Jackie Chan vs Jet Li.

Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay (April 25, 2008)

Neil Patrick Harris rides a pink unicorn.

Iron Man (May 2, 2008)

Big as fuck budget makes explosions and one-liners.

Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull (May 23, 2008)

I’ll see it purely out of curiosity as to whether or not Harrison Ford breaks a hip, and to see if the people involved remember how to make an Indiana Jones movie.

You Don’t Mess with the Zohan (June 6, 2008)

Only good thing is connection to Apatow, here’s hoping it’s good.

Hancock (July 2, 2008)

Will Smith stars as a super hero experiencing “Real world” problems, the trailer was quite funny so here’s hoping.

The Dark Knight (July 18, 2008)

Batman, Nolan, Bale, etc.

X-Files (July 25, 2008)

New X-Files movie with the real Moulder and Skully back.

Pineapple Express (August 8, 2008)

Apatow crew, hilarious trailer, etc.

How to Lose Friends & Alienate People (October 3, 2008)

A lot of interesting cast choices, it’s got Jeff Bridges (The Dude), Megan Fox (Hot) and Simon Pegg (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz).

Miracle at St. Anna (October 10, 2008)

Spike Lee directs film starring John Turturro (Barton Fink, O Brother, Where Art Thou?). My 8 dollars.

Quantum of Solace (November 7, 2008)

New James Bond.

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (December 19, 2008)

David Fincher (Se7en director), Brad Pitt, interesting plot. Could be good.

Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay (April 25, 2008)

Neil Patrick Harris rides a pink unicorn.

Iron Man (May 2, 2008)

Big as fuck budget makes explosions and one-liners.

The Dark Knight (July 18, 2008)

Batman, Nolan, Bale, etc.

X-Files (July 25, 2008)

New X-Files movie with the real Moulder and Skully back.

the cartoon thing looks like a rip off of jonny 5 from short circuit so no thanks just for the rip off lol

but for xfiles, batman, H&K, and iron man, hell yes can’t wait
Ironman

New Indy

Valkyrie

Defiance

Speed Racer

Dark Knight

The Happening

Love Guru
It’s pixar. They’ve been the best makers of original movies… ever. Nothing they have done thusfar has even scraped the surface of ripping someone off. I wouldn’t be so quick to point fingers. It’s fucking pixar.
. Just because it features a similar robot doesn’t make it a rip-off
I don’t really see movies in the theaters anymore (I’m a downloader *gasp*) but aside from needing to see Indiana Jones and The Dark Night in the theaters, I’m looking into . It’s supposed to be like the breakfast club in real life with the different cliques. I’m kind of a sucker for reality and teenagers making idiots of themselves, haha.
Great List, I’m down to see most of them as DVD rips..

As someone else said, it’s a Pixar movie and if you have seen the previews you can tell that the only similiarity between this and short circuit is that it starts a robot.

This movie has been in development for like 10 years. Pixar has yet to disappoint.
Other than the summer blockbusters:

Burn After Reading – Coen Bros

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button – Fincher/Pitt/F. Scott

Revolutionary Road – Mendes, based on a supposedly great book

Quantum of Solace – The new Bond is awesomeness

The Argentine – Benicio Del Toro as Che Guevara

The Box – Richard Kelly adaptation of the classic short story

The Road – Cormac McCarthy adaptation
“Wanted”

Angelina Jolie, Guns, & the Wachowski brothers, what more do you need?

And the trailer for Pineapple Express looks pretty good. Harold & Kumar II was pretty funny, and I enjoyed 1/2 the bottomless party scene.
Can’t WAIT–opens Friday…I can tell it’s going to be gut-wrenching stuff–high school is such a specific time in everyone’s lives, those stories from and about high school always resonate–look at John Hughes! And this gal knows how to make a documentary–The Kid Stays In The Picture was pure genius.

Maybe it’s cuz I was a nerd in high school (WAS a nerd?), but I can tell this is gonna be one to remember…smart, insightful, powerful. Sign me the hell up!
