Russell Crowe in American Gangster > Russell Crowe in 3:10 to Yuma

WAY better character, he’s better in it and he does an all around good job.

Sidenote this movie doesn’t disappoint like I was fearing it would.

It’s based on a true story or whatever and kinda follows the typical flow of the many stories that have been placed on screen before it…..but it’s not a bad movie at all.

This is NOT a scarface. It’s a rise and fall story but not in the same way.
Also it shouldn’t be denounced as a "Black" Scarface because as much as it’s the story of a very successful black man in the 70’s it’s not a racially oriented movie for the most part, which is a nice change.

It’s one of the first movies i’ve been genuinely impressed with the first time viewing….plus a kickass soundtrack.

WOAH

it was good but definitely not the best movie of the year
Just saw it over the weekend, good flick. Both RC and DW were great in it.

Definitely one of the best movie of the year.
I liked it, but it was definately too long and dragged in parts.

The one questionable part that kind of annoyed me was where RC was suddenly the prosecuting attorney against Lucas after he had just passed the bar. Like the DA would trust such a high profile case to a rookie.

well, he knew the most out of anybody, and probably has knowledge that even attorneys can’t get
russell crowe in "the insider" with al pacino > *.crowe
I liked rc in yuma but i thought yuma was a terrible movie so that kind of put a dark shade on it….the ending was just god awful
i personally was let down by this movie. I also think it dragged at parts. However i was very impressed with Russell Crowe’s acting. Made his character very believable and portrayed a true hero in every sense of the word.

This movie had its moments but overall i think ridley scott could have done a much better job.

Kudos to Crowe

I guess this is maybe how it really happened? And also because he knew so much about the case he would know it best? Just watched it again, this time at the theater and didn’t really catch anything more the second time….but still a decent movie just so damn long.
i really liked crowe in yuma as well, thought he did a fantastic job on that character. There didn’t seem to be too much complexity with the American Gangster character.
