Post Scariest Movies Here!
My roommates and I want to watch a super super scary movie..
Give us ideas of which ones to rent please.
Thanks
just watched The Evil Dead for the first time since i was a kid….not quite as scary as then but still entertaining
I’ve been waiting to watch this, but its not on Netflix that I see.
Salems Lot
Rosemary’s baby
The Exorcist
Silver Bullet
Watched it the other night. The last twenty minutes or so and genuinely fucked up. Great horror flick.
Texas Chainsaw Massacre. I never saw the remake so it might be ok, but the original has this look and feel that still creeps me out.
Phantasm
American Werewolf in London
SHUTTER was pretty scary. The Thai version AND the American one. I loved the premise, the whole spirit photography angle. Makes you want to believe that ghosts are real!
The Exorcist scared the hell out of me everytime. I’m referring to the one where the girl threw up that green, slimy substance. Satan’s face was really scary and I imagined his face on my wall for a week.
Yeah, that one stays with you for sure. Masayuki’s version of ‘Shutter’ drops on DVD today, I’m all over it:
Made that on the DVD launch site, you can upload photos and play around with them to make your own ‘spirit photography’ like in the film. I saw my photo used in a banner ad over on the JoBlo message boards, very cool.
Saw The Shining when I was like 8…….scarred me forever.
.
IT.
other mentions…
- silent hill
- the grudge (both version’s are good)
- shutter (thai version)
- exorcist
- dolls
- child’s play
- leprechaun (the first one)
- gremlins
- the gate
- dead silence
- hellraiser
and yes…I’m scared of clowns and dolls..
I usually just laugh at horror movies and not many have any effect on me. A few I found somewhat scary were Wolf Creek, The Ring and Candyman.
It’s not just jumpy, but physically frightening
Event Horizon was pretty wicked…. I recently saw someone post Maximum Overdrive in another forum and when I was a kid it was scary, I dont know if it would be still scary today though. So it may be worth renting either for a scare or a good laugh. LOL
Is it sad I found Cloverfield scary? Those parasites, uh!
Poltergeist got me real bad when I was a kid…and I remember wanting to be scared by Serpent and the Rainbow, but it didn’t happen…I got the shivers at one point or two during The Grudge.
I saw the climax scene of Psycho the other day for the first time in awhile like a 2-3 minute clip on some Alfred Hitchcock segment on I can’t remember (TMC)? Anyway he was talking about his views on film making and elements of his films and giving examples and just watching that small scene in a unprepared atmosphere lights on, thinking about my day not in movie mode etc. I still felt awesome (not so much scary) but just proud of what I was seeing. Sounds just make that movie IMO.
Great one to see over as I plan on watching it once I get back to the states.
I actually found The Descent pretty intense in theaters.
i just saw [Rec] last night and was thoroughly impressed.
Its probably the most gritty, tension-building horror movie i’ve ever seen. A must see if you like zombies.
got it off Torrents, streamed it to my living room TV. Awesome. Very unfortunate that its not available on DVD yet
Thanks for telling me about [Rec]. I found it online as well and just finished watching it. It’s the best POV horror movie I’ve seen. I was genuinely freaked out at certain scenes. Waaaaaay better than Blair Witch, Cloverfield and Diary Of The Dead.
There’s a U.S. remake on its way starring Jennifer Carpenter (The Exorcism of Emily Rose, Showtime’s Dexter) but it will probably not be nearly as good. The U.S. remake is titled Quarantine.
Found a trailer for it, looks shockingly similar
Did anyone else find Rosemary’s Baby to be nothing special?
