No Country For Old Men

March 11th on DVD….

yay.

get it, watch it, LOVE it.

bye
Meh. It was good, but I still think There Will Be Blood deserved Best Picture over it.

me too.

But the ending still sucks.

The ending is better the second time you watch the movie.
At least it leaves you with a weird feeling.
this movie was utter failure. i was bored to death watching it, and Tommy Lee Jones did just about nothing in it. Michael Clayton was waaaaayyy better

Ghost Rider comic is okay.
Suck ass Nicholas Cage movie isn’t okay.
i agree. im glad i didnt pay to watch the ghost rider movie. the comic is quite entertaining tho, hence my av is from the comic not from the movie

seriously tho, aside from the acting, what was so good about the movie? the pace was rather slow, the story quite simple, and what was the significance of Tommy Lee Jones’ character? he didn’t do much throughout the movie. i seriously enjoyed michael clayton much more

Tommy Lee Jones was actually the main character.
It was all about him getting too old to catch today’s criminals.
There is another thread somewhere in this forum explaining more of the movie.
I liked it better the 2nd time I watched the movie.

ok i read most of that post. maybe this movie is too deep for me. honestly i watch movies for pure entertainment, not for philosophical sub-meanings and reading between the lines. i guess this movie just wasn’t made for me. i watched No Country and Clayton both in the same day, and I dont know why I enjoyed Clayton more. maybe it was just simply easier to understand and it was a more exciting movie in general.

maybe ill try to watch No Country again… these "artsy" types of movies always win the Best Picture and my brain is too simple to understand why.

It gets better when you watch it a second time after reading that post I linked. At least this time, you aren’t caught off guard right at the end.
I really don’t think it is an "artsy" type of film. More of a thought provoking film.
i guess thats what i meant, a movie that actually needs you to think and digest it. an acquired taste if you will. i guess i just like some straight up entertainment

Rambo IV = straight mother fuckin entertainment
no deep thought needed - just watch him blow shit up
I want the two hours of my life back. I thought that movie was painfully slow and boring to watch.

any one want to buy a blue ray copy of ncfom?

I’ll give you $5 for it.
i can’t understand how anyone disliked this movie. it’s everything that hollywood has abandoned. an actual script that contains some plot that requires you to actually think.
Thanks to fake dvd culture down where I am living at the moment, I gots me a copy already. First thing I said after watching the movie… I have to watch the damn thing again! Coen brothers never say die!!!

im glad im not the only one who want my two hours back

i guess some people, like me, just dont wanna think. like i said, i look for entertainment in a movie, not artistic values. whatever floats my boat right?

although i did enjoy Michael Clayton recently, as I have said a few times in this thread. my favorite movie ever is Gladiator. i thought it had good story, good ending, good battle scenes, good dialogues. "We mortals are but shadows and dust Maximus!!" GREAT acting, to Russell Crowe.

Snakes on a Plane is another great movie plain old fun, nothing to think about. guy gets on plane, plane is full of snakes, guy kills snakes. the end.

I watched this last night and expected much more. I thought Cigar or whatever his name was, was excellent and entertaining but other than that the movie was meh.

I dont care what anyone says, Tommy Lee Jones character was pointless. He didnt accomplish anything in the entire movie.

That was the point of the movie. He was too old, tired, and worn down to catch modern day criminals so he quit - that is why it was called "No Country For Old Men"

i didn’t think of explaining the obvious but i guess it needed to be done
i figured people just didn’t like a movie with an actual plot, i didn’t think of the fact that they just didn’t understand the plot

but yes, to those who just don’t get why tommy lee jones was in the movie, the above post is spelling it out for you

I got that, thanks.

But, I dont think that is valid as a point. He was disconnected from the main storyline and played little to no role in what was taking place. He just wandered around mumbling the entire movie not doing anything. How does that make his role in the movie good or even entertaining?

He was disconnected and disillusional. I think he played a great role as to what his character portrayed. He was the main character even though he had less amount of screen time compared to Josh Brolin.

Okay, I just dont think that makes for a very good movie. The Cigar fellow was by far the most entertaining character of the movie and made the movie atleast decent other than that I found the movie to be kind of dry.

Chigurh
I did find him very entertaining. I’m not trying to say this is the best movie ever. In fact I had to watch it twice before I really liked it.
It isn’t a movie for everybody.

I should watch it a second time I guess. Unfortunately, I already mailed it back to Netflix.

I d/l it
Excellent movie. I’m not so sure that it should have been picture of the year however.

If you weren’t atleast interested in this movie then you probably didn’t watch it, and if you had taken a glance at the movie for 3 seconds you would’ve understood why No Country For Old Men did so well in the box office. Michael Clayton did better but not as well as No Country For Old Men.
