Lord of War

Such a good movie i wonder why it got a bad rating.
What is supposed to be a funny catchy movie turns out to be a strong message.

I liked it, but I am really into guns. My friends i saw it with were less impressed.

I thought Nicholas Cage was much better in this movie than National Treasure.
awesome movie, and its true too, bad rating because people are ignorant and stupid
I really liked it too but got pissed at his brother for the stupid shit he did.

"One out of 12 Families owns a gun, my job is to figure out how to get guns to the other 11"

Good movie.

"One out of 12 Families owns a gun, my job is to figure out how to get guns to the other 11"

Good movie.

its really good story telling, i really have no clue as to why it got a bad rating.

How many car salesman talk about their work?
How many cigarette saleman?
Both their products kill more people
every year than mine. At least, mine has safety switch.

I liked it.

It’s basically one of those love it or hate it films. If you can’t connect with Cage’s character, then you are definitely going to hate it.

One thing I thought was ridiculous was the fact that Cage’s character always went out and did his own work. This guy is a multi-millionaire, he could’ve gotten people to do his work for him!
watched it last week for the first time and i loved the shit out of it. got it on my netflix queue so i can get myself a nicer copy soon.
I think the begining of the movie is awesome… showing the bullet falling through the barrels etc etc….

Very good acting IMO, I like Cage though!!
i enjoyed it alot…..i have some friends that said they did not like it dont know why……
According to Andrew Niccol, the filmmakers worked with actual gunrunners in the making of the film. The tanks lined up for sale were owned by a gunrunner who had to have them back to sell to another country. They used a real stockpile of over 3,000 AK-47s because it was cheaper than getting prop guns. The gunrunners were more cooperative and efficient than the studio or the crew.

This film is based on actual events.

Yuri Orlov is a composite of five real arms dealers.

No US studios would back the film. Foreign finances were secured instead.

The tanks seen in the movie were real and belonged to a Czech arms-dealer.

Before shooting the scene where tanks were lined up for sale, the filmmaker had to warn NATO, lest they think a real war was being started when they see satellite images of the set.

Jared Leto is the best at acting like a total junkie flop!

Very good movie. I’ve always liked movies that are narrated by the main character.

"Bring me the gun of Rambo!"
didn’t show enough of Bridget Moynahan for the shower scene.
Yeah, I was shocked this movie got such bad reviews, very provocative. Anyone who is interested in the gunnrunners the movie is based on should check out the PBS show frontline, they had a very cool show about 3 different gun runners, was very interesting.

Screenplay was very well done as well, tons of memorable quotes;

"I sell guns to every army but the Salvation Army."
"You know who’s going to inherit the world? Arms dealers. Because everyone else is too busy killing each other."
and my favorite quote from the whole movie…"They say, "Evil prevails when good men fail to act." What they ought to say is, "Evil prevails.""
I thought the movie was good. A nice real eye opener for sure about the Gun running bus.
I loved that opening scene. There were a lot of points in the movie that were just like wow. Ethan Hawk just seems to annoy me. Nicholas Cage on the other hand, is bad ass. He is just a fun actor to watch. He seems to bring a very "everyman" persona to his roles.
I watched it for the second time, this time i bought the dvd. I honestly fell asleep because at times the movie would beslow and boring.
7.5/10 is the rating on
that is a pretty good rating

i think reason most people dont like it is because it is ‘propoganda’
but im looking past the whole gun running thing.

to me its a movie about a guy who is so involved with doing something that he is so good at, he is willin to lose his family over it. im sure he considers himself a monster, a bad trait to the society.

Good God you guys suck at reading the public.
It looks like a decent movie where shit blows up. Why should everyone flock to it?
i saw most of it at a friend’s house a few days ago. i thought it was rather entertaining. i think it should’ve gotten more attention than it did.

one of the best movies ive seen in a while

definitly worth your time
watched it lastnight – great flick – I’d recommend it for sure!
Didnt hear great things about it but watched it anyway. Loved it! Makes you think about a change of profession real hard…
Was a good move a lot better then I thought it was going to be
I to liked this movie much better than nicolas cages previous movies, the part of the movie that was the most insightful to me was when he got caught and was in the room with ethan hawk and starts to explain to him how he was going to be released. when he opens up the paper and you catch a glimpse of like 5 or 6 articles on the page that have to do with the worlds war events or something to that effect, and for me I started to think as he is telling all of this and the military man shows up and how that foreign heads of state and our own heads of state use these gun runners to sell guns to our allies or poeple at war with poeple on opposite sides of the fence. it makes a very good out look on the world and how war is played out.
And the opening was awesome, the life cycle of a 7.62mm rifle round.
