Let Me In

Saw this movie over the weekend and liked it. Not your typical horror film, more of a psychological than a gore-fest, although there is some realistic gore if you want that too.

It is more about how would a high school freshman react if a cute non-sparkly vampire moved in next door.

A unglamorous portrait of life as a vampire. And her Renfeld was very creepy, yet you felt for him.

I am curious as to why they made the movie a period piece since that would be more expensive to film, but I like the music.

I still haven’t seen the Swedish movie, but isn’t LMI better than 95% of the current horror movies? The only one I like as well as this is Drag Me To Hell.

Drag Me to Hell wasn’t scary to me. I actually laughed at alot of it

I thought DMTH was a good mix of suspense & humour.

LMI was interesting because the boy was actually more horrified by his classmates than his next door neighbor.

Let the right one in is a shitty movie. It was to slow.

No attention span huh?

I grew up watching crappy horror movies every saturday. I can sit through anything. I had to FF a few times to shorten this turd up a lil. I did like the ending, but thats like three and half minutes. Her not having a va-jay-jay was also a new twist.

It wasn’t a her by the way. Eli was a boy. What you saw was the result from castration. Watch the scene again
Book goes into more detail than the movie. Also it isn’t really supposed to be a horror movie (well not in the typical sense). It’s more a story of isolation and loneliness of Oskar and then him falling/caring for his vampire neighbor.

i agree that the original was slow as fuck and i also had to rewind to finish the movie. i did like the remake but i even that that one was slow too, the only difference was that i can’t FF through a theater flick. the only complaint with the remake i have is that i liked the ending swimming pool scene in the original more. i liked the slower more artist approach to the original as opposed to the ferocity of the remake

I really want to see this still. I missed my chance at the theater since they only had it for 2 days. I loved the Swedish version and this one looked really good as well. And after seeing Chloe Moretz in Kick Ass and how good of a job she did in that, it makes it a worthwhile movie for me to watch. I wish it would get released either on a torrent or Blu Ray really soon.

Original is almost always better than the remake, especially if it’s an american remake of a foreign flick.

I havnt seen the american one, but swedish original was such an awesome movie, such a great take on vampires.

Same boat…waiting for the American one.. Swedish one is all subtitles but still a good movie.

I saw Let the Right One In and was amazed by it. It was one of my favourite films of the past few years. Then I saw Let Me In and found it dull in comparison… mostly because I had seen it all before in the Swedish film (which did it better). If Let Me In were to win anything it should be "Most Unnecessary American Remake".

I don’t disagree with you that the remake is unnecessary. But as far as remakes go, Let Me In is actually pretty decent. I can’t think of a better remake in recent years.

It’s only a shame that most people who actually respect the story will disregard this film because of how stupid a remake is altogether. The only people who will really love this films are those who a) haven’t seen the Swedish version or b) are uneducated and don’t even know it’s based off a Swedish film/novel. Hmm, Americans really do go to long lengths so they don’t have to read subtitles.

I concur…definitely check out the original. Well worth your time.

just saw Let me in (american), going to check out the swedish version

I agree. I saw the American one first so I might be a little biased but I liked it slightly more than the Swedish.

Question: did Pedobear approve of the Euro film? Or did I just imagine I saw that?

They’re the same.
