If I hadn’t been familiar with/read the Grendel portion of Beowulf I would have enjoyed it a lot more. I don’t recall Beowulf ever fucking Grendel’s mother… and other stuff I wont mention so I dont spoil anything.
I guess I’m saying if you’re going in with no knowledge of the story, it’ll be pretty kick ass.

I think it’s safe to say if you are a high school graduate you have read Beowulf. So by induction I suppose it’s safe to say that if you have a high school education you will not think kindly of the film.

In for answers to imax 3D question
I don’t know anything about it, but it looks entertaining enough. Gonna watch it at imax 3D this weekend.
It was alright, if you liked the story or just epic movies I’d recommend it.
A lot of liberties with the story but that’s to be expected. It’s a pretty short read to begin with, and this is Hollywood. There is an interview out there that explains why they took the liberties they did with some plot points. Actually a good read from a historical perspective of the original text.
The CGI was meh. Some parts were great, others look liked shrek. It was not much better than Final Fantasy. The near nudity bothered me, not that there were tits and ass, but the corny things done to hide Beowulf’s cock, reminding me too much of Austin powers and was a distraction.
I’m sure the movie crew fags will tear it up. But yeah they’re fags
It was decent; It wasn’t terrible or great– worth the ticket and the time, but that’s about it.
3d wasn’t that bad. i thought it was pretty cool. probably better on the imax, but in normal theater was good. it was a pretty good movie if you wanted to be entertained. its somewhat like the poem, but hollywood-ized.(duh). i say 3.5-4 out of 5. would i see it again? maybe. for angelina cgi naked body. lol. seriously tho. she was hot in that movie. the acting was mild. i mean, the script was ok. it came off like 300 to me at some points, but it made it into its own, with some funny parts. just go see it i guess. nothing really else out till i am legend.
