i am legend question

so i am legend is a remake of Omega Man staring C. Heston where he’s attacked by vampires. But I’ve been hearing that in I Am Legend they are zombies. Is this a rumor or did someone have any info on this?
In the book I Am Legend, it is vampires, caused by some sort of virus or something, IIRC.
But yeah, it is supposed to be Vampires, the trailers for the movie make it look like some sort of mix of Zombies/Vampires, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, with such a great premise.

.

Shame on you for not researching that. And they are still vampires, like in the original book.
does the dog live or no? i hate it when they kill the poor dog off, id rather the person die than the dog but every damn movie kills off the faithful dog, does this one follow that same old formula and kills off the dog?

I dont ever remember him having a dog in the book. I could be wrong though.

In the book he comes across a dog and tries to re-tame it…

Highlight below for spoilers in the novel:

that’s just as bad as saying that it’s a reimaging.

that’s right.
i can see the zombie/vampire thing working. In the book they are called vampires but they behave exactly like zombies and are retarded.

if they behaved exactly like zombies and were retarded, how were they able to manipulate him? how were they able to capture him? how did they have the knowledge to walk in sunlight?

Because apparently k1ko never read the book and just wiki’d it.
in the movie he has the dog as a puppy, no training…

this movie was just like the reviews i read. could have been much better..
Seeing it tonight. I’m bummed because I”m hearing it’s subpar.
I think The Dark Knight trailer attached to I Am Legend will be better than I Am Legend itself.

the only think i realy liked about the movie was the clever hint of the batman superman movie that is coming out in a few years

I thought Heath Ledger would be a horrible Joker, but he seems pretty awesome.

i saw that billboard in the background too

Well, when I thought about it, I hadn’t any reason not to trust Nolan.
they seemed very zombie-ish in alot of ways in the movie. very much like the "rage" virus from 28 days/weeks later. they bled from their eyes and mouths (slightly), exhibited signs of extreme aggression continuously, but they also showed a bit of intelligence at times, other times they just seemed like a band of retards.

not in peros amores

there was a billboard for legally blond 3

More spoilers to confirm your point (highlight below):

If they behaved like your average zombie:

Also, I know Will Smith received a lot of hate for taking this role, but does he do it justice? I like him and think as long as he is the "Ali"/"The Pursuit of Happyness" Will Smith and not the "aww Hell no!" Will, he’ll do a great job.

i assume that spoiler is a book spoiler? none of that happened in the movie at least…. and personally i think he was great in the role, i really connected with him, mentally and emotionally, i was really into the movie while i watched it. he makes you laugh, he makes you feel sympathy for him, he makes you angry. i personally didnt like the ending at all, maybe it followed the book really well, but i just wasn’t feeling it.

ps : the CGI blew
i give the movie thumbsup. Should i check out the book? sounds good

wtf are u talking about? There were like two types of vampires. The "living" ones and then the retarded ass regular ones that couldn’t even figure out how to get into the "heroes" house. They behaved exactly like zombies. The living ones were the ones that could spend small amounts of time in the sunlight and could also think. They considered themselves seperate from the dumbass vampires and even had a specialized division to dispose of them. (the same group that captured the hero at the end in his house).

Yeah, those were spoilers from the book, sorry if you had planned to read it…

Nwmrkt you should check the book out, it’s not the action packed novel that The Omega Man and the new movie make it out to be. Instead it’s more of a character study…

That’s good news about Will Smith though, I really didn’t want Mike Lowry to show up screen.

Going by the trailer I assumed the CGI vamps wouldn’t look that great, kinda like "I, Robot"’s robots, only fleshier!
They are not zombies, they are biologically mutated people, who are sensitive to light and bloodlustfully angry. You would understand the whole concept if you just went and saw the movie.

yeah because Zombies are so much different than what you just described

Zombies are not sensitive to light.
Zombies are not bloodthirsty.

Zombies are able to walk in light (ie. Dawn of the Dead, Day of the Dead, etc, etc).
Zombies are flesh eating thingers. They do not hunger for blood.

Depending on what type of zombie you’re referencing, they too can be of the whole biological mutating shit.

well ill admit im somewhat wrong. Are they vampires then? You know the kind that turn all CGI once there infected

I can see this becoming similiar to the old "the infected in 28 Days Later are not zombies" clusterfuck! (which they kinda are, but kinda not!)
The thing I hate most about the movie is that "I Am Legend" means something entirely different in the film.

I would love for someone to re-make a more accurate version of the book.
What was the liquid he poured on the steps of his house/ on his jacket after being attacked??

i have not read book but I would assume vinigar because it takes away smells (leave a dish out in your kitchen, it leaves only itself as a smell)

Other possibly/likely ideas would clearly be ammonia or less likely bleach
