Cloverfield

Yeah i know it’s old news but in the UK things don’t get released very quickly.

Watched it last night, pretty good. how the fuck did they do all those effects? was it actually filmed in NYC?

i could see the us government carpet bombing the whole city if something like that did happen

that is the only scene i liked from the movie when they are in the chopper. The movie would’ve been alright without that first person cam but fuck it. i give it a 5 out of 10.
i thought the first person take on a monster movie was refreshing.

i just bought some special edition DVD, and it of course included a “making of” feature. as for where it was filmed, there is a part of downtown LA that can pass for NYC, so they used that. they also shot in the actual streets of NYC, and as for the brooklyn bridge scene, that too was in NYC.

a great movie. true terror.
I saw this movie after a bottle of 2 buck chuck and a couple beers. I almost puked when they were running. I had to look away from the screen a couple times.

I liked the fact that it was a “monster” movie that didn’t follow the a main character that tried to stop the monster / save the world. It was just following some dood that wanted to make sure his chick was ok.

I think i remember seeing the group pass by other groups of people that also had video cameras. I, for one, would be interested in seeing their points of view also.
Shaky cam ftl

movie would have been much better had they not went out of their way to shake the heck out of the camera lol
I liked it.

I just laughed when the girl was impaled by a huge metal rod, then ten minutes later sprinted for a mile down main street

I liked it.

+1 A bit inconsistent, but still entertaining.
it was good. big monster ate ny. what’s not fucking good about that? giant monster movie fucking rules. giant stoned monster wins even harder.

sorry i’m pretty cooked.
i liked it when i thought the movie was gonna suck actually so i gave it 4 thumbs up

I liked it.

The writers didn’t think about that little screw up.

I enjoyed it to, ended up with a headache afterwards from all the shakiness.
hated this movie but yet i want to see it again on dvd
I thought it was pretty good.. it was imo too short and left way too many unanswered questions but thats what sequels are for, right?

the director confirmed that the beast was dead

so im guessing there wont be a sequel
saw it for the first time last night.

i thought it was an excellent film. those little fuckers in the subway freaked me out

and i liked the fact that it was a lil more realistic as far as the main character doesnt save the world and ends up dying
and i love how in the very last scene, you can see the object falling in the ocean

in for a sequel from a different person’s point of view

What about the static at the end of the credits?

guess I missed that, I thought the last scene was them under the bridge
yeah what where they actually saying?
WORSE MOVIE EVER … the shaky camera the rip off of other movie shit just a bad movie in general.
I think this scene was after the credits
I rented this via Netflix last week … on a small screen the shaky cam was not bad. The monster itself was cool, and I liked the parts where the army was attacking it, plus the first person premise wasn’t as gimmicky as I expected. I’ll give it a solid 7.5/10.

Did you see any splash in the water in the final scene? Took me 4 tries to locate it.
I agree that it was short, but most video tapes only last 90 mins right? I thought that was a nice touch. Though they must have had a HUGE ass battery to actually last that long.
Great movie. I like where they are potentially going with the movie. JJ Abrams FTW!
Cloverfield was alright. I cant say I was disappointed with it. But it’s more or less centers on a group of people, than that of the Monster. The Monster is essentially just a side character in this.
i liked it, but i won’t be adding it to my collection.
just watched it, downloaded it last night…

the acting is atrocious. the idiot holding the camera has the most contrived screams, crying and gasping, it sounded retarded. listening to his dialog with the chick he likes actually caused me physical pain. the idea that he bothers to keep filming also seems kind of ridiculous in the midst of the presumed chaos happening around them. it becomes even more unbelievable after he gets chomped on by the creature and they think to recover the camera and keep filming. lol.

I’ll give them credit for trying something unique in film making, the effects were cool, but it was pretty poor overall…

The whole film was shot in 35 days, but only a week was spent filming select exteriors in New York. I saw it the day it came out in the States (still treasure the ticket). I really love this movie, especially the viral advertising that was hidden away online. It really adds another dimension to the movie.
The whole point of the movie is that the monster was a side character. In a crisis people tend to sort their priorities out, and the movie starts with Rob and Beth, and ends with Rob and Beth.
Yup. And unfortunately (or fortunately depending on one’s POV), there seems to be a consensus that felt the monster was essentially THE most interesting character in the film itself. Side character or not.
I am pretty sure there will be a sequel of the same events but someone else’s perspective. Also i think that in the sequel these new people will discover more about the monster and where it came from. Just my .2cents. Btw watching “Lost” as I type this.
I LOVE CLOVERFIELD!

I think Hud is really funny, especially on the roof.
