I have gotten such mixed reviews on this movie. Either people hate it or love it but I am going to have to check it out for myself.
I liked it, I thought it was an interesting mix of action and romance. But I thought they should have stuck to one of the two genres, you know? The action scenes got painful and boring twoards the end, and it was a little boring in the drawn out romance to begin with. But I like the story/ the mix. and I don’t think they could have chosen better actors.

It sure looked to me that Angelina was already into Brad when the movie was being made.

it was ok in the theatre, but watching it again on dvd it is fucking terrible. completely pissed on an absolutely great t.v. series with this piece of shit. they should have used scott bakula and maria bello and with the money they saved in casting hired a writer instead of a monkey to pound the random keys that eventually got translated into this movie

I think the important thing is you can never, NEVER go wrong casting Scott Bakula.

i heard it was supposed to be the sequal to true lies with arnold, but since they couldnt get him they modified the script into that awful movie.
one of the few "popcorn flicks" i really liked.
I liked it, the fight scenes with happy music were my favorite.
I am just not a big fan of Angelina…I don’t think she is a very good actress. She was cool in Gia but I think that is because she is LOCO like Gia (i guess for that same reason she was OK in Girl Interrupted).

As a mindless action flick it is actually passable.

As long as you don’t expect to find creative dialogue and an interesting plot… or I guess if you don’t expect anything out of it, then it’s fun.

It was entertaining. I don’t get it when people go to a movie like this and expect to see something epic. We all know it’s not directed by the next Goddar or Truffaut, yet people always seem to get so invested.

It was an entertaining movie that took me away from the stresses of real life for a good hour and a half.

There’s an old black&white horror movie called "The Screaming Skull" that starts off with a shot of a casket and a narrator saying that the producers have offered to pay for funerals for anyone who dies of fright while viewing their movie. I thought of that the first time I saw the Hostel trailer.

I was going more for Last House on the Left.
All hype. Just saw it. The gratuitous nudity was not plentiful enough and the ‘scary’ stuff wasn’t all too scary. rotten.com made me jaded.
I thought it was an excellent movie, one of the best horror movies I have ever seen.

Quentin Tarantino had more than his name on it. You could tell he had some creative control over it just by the scene shots and editing, it definately had Tarantinos work in it.

Actually no he didn’t. He produced it which means he put up the money to get this POS on the big screen instead of letting it die in the crappy film festivals.

And he makes a point to have his name really really BIG on the TV spots so that everyone thinks he had a hand in it which he didn’t so that the movie makes more money by sucking in stupid kids who don’t know that he is just a has been jackass now.
i remember here in houston when saw 2 came out, some dude got so shocked that he start having a heart attack and he died later.
How do you know Tarantino had nothing to do with the movie? Why would he let people put his name to a movie that he had nothing to do with? If the movies sucks that could hurt his reputation.
The ambulance thing is true, I was listening to an interview with Jay Hernandez on Sirius and it happened in Toronto at a pre-screening.
The movie was fucking horrible. I cannot believe anyone could like that garbage. Way over rated and over hyped. The best part about that movie was the previews.

He secured the funding for it. HE did not direct or write the movie, he was the producer and nothing else.

The reason his name was plastered all over it was to hype it up and to get people to see it.
I just got back from seeing it. Anyone who had to seek medical attention after watching that movie had a foot in the grave already.

everyone always says that. "its not scary!!! fucking stupid" its because before u even stepped into that theatre you were afraid of being afraid. every creepy sound or noise you laughed at or picked apart. you didnt even give yourself the opportunity to be scared. people said that about the excorcist, etc etc and every scary movie out there. if u sit down turn all the lights off, and keep your goddamn mouth shut and not criticise everything, it will freak you out.

look, if u go into a movie with all that hype, and u dont wana be scared, u wont be scared. if u sit in that theatre let the lights go down, and really are open to being scared and watch it, that movie was scary as hell. i have seen every scary movie in the book, and when i left the theatre i felt like i was kicked in the stomach.

Look around you…. the lifestyles that are being lead in this age makes it harder on film makers because we are conditioned to things that are messed up so it’s harder to scare us in the long run. Sure there were things in this movie that was really disturbing but I know I saw a movie that freaked me out more so therefore this didnt bother me that much. Deal with it! I saw something scarier I"m sure others did too, and they saw something that freaked them out more. This movie was a failure period.

first hour – partying, drinking, lots of tits
next 10 minutes – the torture scene’s
last 20 minutes – escaping

seriously like only TEN MINUTES of the only reason anyone would have gone to see that movie in the first place. and if i wanted to see tits i would have stayed home and downloaded some porn.
I’m about 100% sure it was just hype. Eli Roth is a hardcore fan of classic horror, and that’s an advertising gimmick they used to use in the old days. "If you are pregnant or have a heart condition, DO NOT SEE THIS MOVIE! It is too scary!"

Were you on the set? The cinematography had Tarantino written all over it. I know he didnt write or direct but I am sure he had some creative control over it because their are a lot of aspects about the film that had Tarantino flavor.

Cinematography can ruin a good movie, but it sure as hell can’t save a shitty one. Who cares what he did on it? He is marked as producer, thats it. If he influenced elsewhere and didn’t ask for credit, so what? Movie blew regardless.

My favorite part is when Migra thinks he is an illegal and he has to sneak back across the border.

grade: B. my expectation was low. it was actually pretty funny. best part for me is when their kid starts yelling "mi television. telemundo!" when jim carrey takes the tv away.
It was not bad. I liked the part when him and jane were dressed in black and robbing that one guy and jim carey goes fucking crazy on the guy. mr roboto dance etc…

Certainly wasn’t his best movie, but it did have its moments. Good but not great imo.
Movie was alright. My expectations were a little higher than what I got. There were a lot of funny parts, like him getting the "yard" back and the son being "Spanish".

This looks alright from the trailer. I’ll have to wait and see if they release any more footage from the movie before I decide whether to see this in theaters or not.
It will be interesting to see what the on-screen chemistry will be like between Farrell and Foxx. I have heard some stories that said they were "boys" on set and other stories that said they did not get along.
Colin seems like decent casting. I’m not sure about Foxx tho.

I watched that movie for the first and last time today.

The movie sucked. I’m a fan of Cillian Murphy and with some small changes to the script namely the begining and the end it could have been made decent but it failed.
The first half was so pointless & drawn out that it made me not care about the somewhat better 2nd half. That guy has really great blue eyes…even if the rest of his face is rather creepy.
All I cared about for in the movie was Rachel McAdams. The movie sucked. Rachel is fucking HOT.
you know, i didn’t HATE this movie but did find it totally anti-climactic. it’s a shame, too, because rachel mcadams and cillian murphy are pretty much my favorite young actors today.

What are the differences here? I never saw the theatrical but I question how it was that much worse than the original. Wasn’t a super large amount of nudity or anything, nothing too extreme. Anyone know? or is the unrated material found in the deleted scenes?
Putting the unrated label on a DVD is just a way to get you to buy another copy. I purchased the unrated DVDs of American Pie, Road Trip, Bad Santa, and a couple of others and all of them had one additional scene from the regular version, thats it. I was a little mad. It is a scam but if you dont have the original you might as well buy the unrated version.

cant wait to buy this DVD tomorrow–I will probably go to BestBuy or Suncoast so I can get The Fuccons episodes on DVD for only $3….

When they release a movie on DVD, they add extra scenes. Those scenes weren’t viewed by the audience that determines the movie’s rating, therefore, the extra footage is unrated. If it’s included with the movie on the dvd (instead of just in the extras) then the movie becomes unrated.
so the unrated scenes are extras? or are they thrown into the actual movie? (as in do you have the option to watch it w/o the extra scenes? – you do have the option right?)

No, the uncorked version contains all of the scenes (and you can’t turn it off), and I liked it a lot.

It’s 50/50….half the new scenes are merely ‘ok’ and you understand why they cut them, but the others are absolutely hilarious (Todd on the dock with the rose, Vince Vaughn and the ‘scuba accident’…come on, that was brilliant!).

The ‘Uncorked’ scenes have no new nudity or extreme content….just 8 mins of new material. It’s worth it.

though Todd telling Owen Wilson about what happens if he mentions grabbing her tits seemed forced. Definitely a moment

Yeah. The menu has options for both Theatrical and Uncorked versions.

I felt more pessimistic with the extra scenes. It felt like it threw off the pacing of the movie. But still, great flick.

i’m in agreement with most of the posts above. i saw a special dvd screening in theaters the night before it was released.. my third time seeing it in the theaters. i laughed my ass off. again.

but then i waited through the credits for all the "extra" and "deleted" scenes and thought they totally sucked. i was actually pissed that i’d lost those 15 minutes of my evening. i’ll still buy the dvd, of course, but the special features are nothing to write home about.

regardless, i frickin’ love this movie.

It’s basically horror, All Souls Days (Dia de los muertos) is the mexican holiday to celebrate dead people, so, it’s a date to inspire lots of movies like this one :, isn’t?
I thought it was kinda boring and cliched. I’m huge zombie fan, and I’ve seen the same thing done time and time again, and usually better. However, it was a good cheesy time killer when I watched it on the sci fi channel. So, its got that going for it…
