3:10 to Yuma
awesome fucking movie, sweet ass action, great acting, and then….. wtf ending.
Bale still rocks the shit like no one can
CAN’T WAIT TO see that shit, i’d suck bales dick so hardcore
nohomo
Great performances all around. I don’t want to say it dragged, because the tension was kept up to pace all around, but it did kind of wait a bit to decide what it wanted to do with the characters. Bale, Crowe impress as always, I don’t expect anything less. I liked the son and Peter Fonda’s screen time the most. Wasn’t as much action as I expected, but I was not disappointed because the movie was an enormous hit when it comes to character development – something other flicks should take a hint with. Too often do we see bland characters not getting built up before they get waxed or the credits roll (300).
I want to give it more than 4 stars, but for some reason I can’t quite give it 5/5. I definately recommend it for any fans of western movies. It captures the genre VERY well. Fans of Crowe and Bale will surely be satisfied as well.
fixed.
I havnt been so gidy walking out of a movie since departed. Fucking loved this movie. I couldn’t take my eyes off the screen and my heart was actually racing at the end. loved it.
Just got back. I loved it. WTF ending indeed but it was a really good ending!
what the fuck ending, but good movie.
Spoilers:
So Crowe just kills his gang, who stayed loyal to him by chasing his ass for miles, and places himself in the train car so Bale’s characters son can look up to his dad?
On a side note, the actor leading Crowe’s gang while he is gone pisses me off. This and that other movie he was a tough guy in, Alpha Dog, just goes to show that he should be typecast as the nerdy guy. He doesn’t have the ‘tough’ look at all.
I dunno.. I think Ben Foster is a pretty good actor. He doesnt have the commanding of voices but he is pretty good in pretty much every other area.

He kills his own gang who, by his own admission, are nothing more than ruthless animals. Crowe played a complex character; he is neither wholly bad nor good. It was his interaction with Bale’s family and the tidbits dropped thereof (most notably his son’s tuberculosis) that made Bale fully human and sympathetic. Bale wasn’t just a cartoon character, he was a man struggling to make ends meet and keep his family afloat. Apparently that’s worth more than a group of scumbags without conscious.
But, as I said, he’s not completely good. He’s not turning himself in; he’s escaped twice before from YUMA and we may reasonably infer that he’ll do the same again.

I think it was pretty badass at the end as you see the train rounding the corner as he whistles to horse and it starts running toward the traing. Has to make one think right then and there that Ben Wade was off that mother fucking train before it even got to Yuma. Acting was A+++++

he does have the tough loook. he looked freakin sadisctic. He was my favorite supporting actor in the movie. who is he by the way?
Ben Foster
notable roles were the complete psycho in Hostage and Angel in X-Men
btw, what did Dan say to Wade when Wade was choking him? I couldn’t make it out… something about how his own men shot his foot
He tried to retreat and run away, so they shot his leg off, and how could he tell his son, thats why he kept figthing to bring him to the train… really good movie.
wrong, he told him that his leg got shot off by one of his own men
Close enough.
Agreed
meh. movie was a clusterfuck. scene by disjointed scene.
script was
crowe with that chick in the bar…
crowe: "you feel skinny"
woman: "i feel skinny"
crowe: "thats ok as long as you have green eyes."
<turns her around> "nevermind, they dont have to be green" <makeout time>
then he mentions green eyes again when talking to bale’s wife… why is he obsessed with green eyes?? is there a meaning to his green eye fetish?? doesnt matter apparently…
then bale’s lisp and geographically incorrect accent make their continual presence known.
i then decide to push up 3 armrests next to me and take a nap and wake up to a wooden leg bale jumping rooftops.
and for some reason crowe decides to be a good guy at the end
I finally got to check out this movie.
Very good, one of the better movies I have seen for sometime.
The ending is different, thats for sure.
For me, this was the biggest disappointment of 2007.
I totally expected to like this movie, but 3/4 of the way through, it ceased to make any sense. Pulling no punches, the ending flat-out sucked!
It was a great premise for a movie… too bad, it could have been so much better.

It’s a remake so it’s not like they could take it in a very different direction.
I approved. The ending was weird but I think it all comes down to the fact that Ben Wade respected Dan for "his" way of life: Hard-working, honest and Wade’s gang gunned him down and that enraged Wade enough to kill his own men. That’s how it made sense to me.
Ben Foster was fucking awesome. Creepy and sadistic in that humorous way. "Say, you boys wouldn’t be a…..posse?" Hilarious shit.
Does anyone know if that’s the ending in Leonard’s short story?
i was disappointed in this movie as well. pretty much same reasons as above.
the only character i liked was the mean ass sidekick guy, the ending was fucking stupid though, there is no way anyone would have done that its just stupid.
it wasn’t a complete waste of time but it sure wasnt’ as good as i was expecting 6/10
So you like movies that end in a predictable manner that is done over and over again?
aliens could have landed and given him an anal probe, it would have been very unexpected and still would have been a stupid ass ending.
spoiler below****
if he had just rode off after killing everyone i could have accepted it, but to get on the train lol, why would a fucking criminal do that, that’s just fucking stupid, being unexpected doesn’t allways equal being a good thing
My thoughts is that either he wanted to pay for his crimes or he was planning on escaping later on since he had mentioned that he had escaped from their in the past.
He wanted Dan Evans to accomplish what he set out to.
He’s going to escape anyway. He said he’s escaped from Yuma, twice already, and he whistled for his horse to follow him so he’d have transportation to get away
yeah, a life long thief and murderer would go through all that trouble, it’s just stupid. i’m gonna go ahead and go to prison and try to break out again as opposed to just riding off.
I think you missed one of the themes of this movie. It was about the growth Ben Wade experienced as a person through his relationship and respect for Christian Bales character.
spoilers below (even though the entire thread has spoilers so if you haven’t watched it you shouldn’t be reading this anyway lol)
the ending caped off a dissapointing movie, i can understand his respect for Bales characther but there has never been a crook that would have done that lol, it’s just silly. endings that are completely crazy just bug me, for 1 thing you got a gimp legged christian bale jumping across roof tops like he was batman, then well shit, let’s agree to disagree, i just didn’t like it or find it at all realistic, even if he felt respect for bale and decided to shoot the people he shot the getting on the train part is just too much for me, that’s when i called bullshit lol.
at everyone talking about how ‘unrealistic’ it was.
Its a western, westerns have NEVER been about realism. They are the tall tales of the modern era.

.
The movie is a redemption story for Bale’s charactor. You couldn’t have him fail in the end.
+1 on to Ben Watson, i loved that character.

I wouldnt necessarily call it unrealistic. Unlikely, but it could happen so I wouldnt call it unrealistic. Since when were movies made about events that are likely and realistic? If so, they would be very boring and not worth watching.
i didn’t like it, you did. that’s why they’re called opinions we all have our own.
i thought the movie started out good then just went to shit.
