B To Z Grade Films

The Secret Life of Jeffrey Dahmer is probably my favorite, it’s a criminally bad z grade film about my favorite serial killer.

I just saw Super for the first time

It’s sort of like Kick-Ass or Defendor in so far as it is about some average joe trying to be a super hero.

I was really surprised at how much I liked it. I found it to be both darker and have more heart than either of the aforementioned movies. And while the Hit-Girl character in Kick-Ass had the bad ass fighting skills, I felt that Ellen Page’s Boltie in Super was a far better character.

Better movie than kick-ass or defendor. Super is the most perfect ‘average joe superhero’ movie.

Red State

Has anyone seen this yet? I’ve loved all Kevin Smith movies except for Jersey Girl, this one is definitely much different from his other works, looks like more of a campy horror flick than the average Kevin Smith comedy. Has anyone seen it? I’m guessing it’s about some crazy religious fucks who take people hostage and start killing them off or something to that extent.

I watched it two nights ago and it is truly amazing. It is so far removed from the rest of his flicks. I was really blown away by it. It felt a little rushed to me, I really didn’t feel for the characters at all, even though the church group is based on the Phelps family (a group that Smith has had dealings with before… real life nutters), but it was definitely a different direction from his usual dick and fart joke movies. If Red State is any indication then Hit Somebody is going to be off the fucking chain.

Dumber and dumber like movie

Fucking movie is awesome, its so ridiculous through the whole movie, subtitled movie for those who care.

You can stream it here

The Innkeepers

Another Ti West flick with an 80s feel (House of the Devil was badass). Ghost hunters investigating at an old Inn. I’m about 25 minutes in and so far it’s not terrible. Cool set, relaxing cinematography. Warm colours and lighting. Sara Paxton looks A LOT like Martha Plimpton of ‘The Goonies’ fame though and Kelly McGillis looks a little like Shirley Jones now . Maybe it’s just the hair. Or the old.

It was good. I’ve read lots of ‘it’s not a horror movie’ and ‘there was no sex! y u no have titties?’ bullshit reviews from morons who think horror films need to be bathed in blood, gore and nudity in order to qualify genuinely belonging in the genre. That’s just bollocks. It may not have been intensely face paced and real ‘in your face’ with shaky, jittery camera moves and lots of smash, but it had a pretty good story, semi-interesting characters and a pretty solid last act that did its job well enough.

The Ides of March

Has anyone seen this? I’m about to take a trip to my local Redbox and it’s been a while since I’ve seen a good political thriller. I have generally been craving a smart movie lately that instills thought in the viewer, it’s either going to be this or Apollo 18, and Apollo 18 looks pretty stupid so that narrows things down.

I’ve heard good things about it, but haven’t seen it yet. It’s on my list.

very good.

great acting, writing, etc…

Shameless is the best fucking show on TV

So I just finished Season 1 last night and the damn writers are genius!!!! I can’t fucking wait for Season 2.

I trust you are speaking of the award winning BBC program, sir.

Actually I didn’t know there was a BBC version but after watching the American version and liking it so much I will definitely watch the BBC version as well.

I dont know about the best show but it is definitely one of the better ones. This upcoming season looks great too.

DRIVE (2011)

I’ve been looking forward to this one, and now it finally has a trailer:

Keep your eye on this one. It’s coming soon. RT score is 95% at the moment, with an average score of 8.8/10. IMDB has it at 8.8/10 as well.

Just finished seeing this a couple hours ago. Instant classic. Go see it, but don’t go in expecting some uninspired, popcorn flick ala Transporter or Fast and the Furious.

The Green Lantern

The racecar scene. That about sums up the movie.

ive been keeping my eye on this on rotten tomatoes, since im a fan of the comics.

Things do not look promising.

Race car scene was completely ridiculous…. Whole movie was just retarded.

Spoiler Alert**** (even though I can’t spoil an already spoiled movie)

During the ending credits, theres a quick scene where Sinestro puts on the fear ring, shit just totally contradicts his entire character and everything he stood for. Especially when they all just get done saying "will" always overcomes "fear".
